The PIP sensor inside the distributor has only a few wires. Perhaps you are referring to the Ignition Control Module (ICM)? It is the black colored device mounted to a heat sink on the driver side inner fender. It has 7 wires...

That may be the case here. The EEC-IV based ignition on these trucks use only the 5 wires noted in the ignition diagram as well as the connector diagram. There are other Ford vehicles that use a dual PIP output, one to the computer and the other PIP signal goes directly to the ICM, so that would increase the number of wires to 7. That implies the PIP sensor in these trucks are also used in other vehicles that use the dual PIP output. So use the diagrams I posted earlier to trace out the circuit paths used for these trucks.

Replaced the PIP with a junk yard distributor....very low mileage and Motorcraft Copper spark plugs. Now my spark is yellow, but runs great. The spark use to be a blueish gray with Bosch Platinums.
