I'd like to get a descent scan tool (already have an SG2). Was looking at AE but then read about the contribution test being misleading. Are there any good IDS clones? Much appreciated
AE is crap, doggy do do -- I had it, tried reaching their customer service (multiple times) --- got stiffed, threw the entire PieceofChit in the garbage.
I use IDS, but have tried Forscan -- pretty impressive; however, I don't like using any Russian software given how corrupt the entire country is and how there might be a "backdoor" in their software --- not going there.
LOL - but we buy all kinds of chips, electronics, and even software from China without mentioning them (edit as much). That is insanity IMO. Russia isn't the #1 issue.
I have one of the IDS clones and it works for the most part. You do need to be somewhat computer literate since my clone key doesn't play nice with the anti virus/ malware software. But I am able to use the most current version of IDS and it does all the functions one needs
Thanks. Is there anything on Forscan besides the KOEO buzz test that I could use to see if injectors are all functioning within range?
Forscan's limited on the contribution front. Alternatively you can instrument (inductively) to better understand the FICM-injectors interface. I'm on diag.net (mainly for shop owners) and some have used Picoscope and homegrown waveforms with limited success.
Ford's IDS algorithm for Power Bal / Cyl Contribution is fairly robust -- it issues multiple commands to the PCM and sensors during the test. Bosch is a runner-up for these vehicles:

"LOL......without mentioning them"? Not me, I bring those Chinese thieves up frequently on this site. As for Russia, China, the Intelligence Community (IC) considers both bad actors -- #1 problems. I think Russian scientists / mathematicians (and hackers) are actually better than the Chinese who have lived, operated on a "theft of Intellectual Property (IP)" business model for decades.
Question for ForScan users: Can this be used to program Smart Keys for FORD/Lincoln products - say from 2015-present vehicles? If so, can one actually delete past programed keys from memory ?
So what's the consensus on the best clone Ford IDS VCM type software? And where can you get.it from? I want to do an uncompensated cylinder contribution test on my truck....and from what I've been reading, IDS is the only way to do that....but the genuine version is a fortune.....

What clone do you use? I am trying to find a way to program PCM/TCMs on 6.0s.
