Is that the black/orange wire that sits by itself on the main harness? I tried to ground that wire out but got nothing. That is why I think my module is bad. How hard is it to change the speed sensor in the rear end?
Turn on your key and then ground the orange and black wire. You should get your rabs flashing. Count the number of flashes. I don't know what to do if it doesn't flash. The speed sensor is easy to change but I wouldn't change it without the code. There could be something else wrong.
That's what I tried. The light only comes on with the key on, but I cannot get any codes to pop out. I was going to try and fix that problem before the speed sensor change but I was just curious how easy it would be to change. The only thing I have not changed is the speed sensor, the RABS module, and the wiring!
from what I have read, if your brake and rabs light stay on it could be the rabs module. I found some great info by typing in rabs trouble shooting on Google. One article took me through the entire system.
Yeah, but my brake light is not on......it works....but my ABS light is the only light that stays on. I also don't know if mine has the RABS I or RABS II system. I find a lot of info on the RABS II system but nothing for RABS I and I think that is what I have in this EX. The procedure for checking and clearing codes is different I do believe. That is what I'm trying to find out. When you checked your codes, did you have to disconnect the black/orange wire or was it just dangling like mine?
i would try to connect the rabs diag connector to a +12 conection if grounding it dont work if it still dont do anything replace the modual and if that dont work change the speed sensor other than the i duno good luck oh yea on my truck the brake light came on with the rabs light when i have a rotted brake line when i hit the brakes hard in a snow storm but whent off when i turned off the truck so i dont think that means the box is bad i think it means something is majorly f**ked up with the braking system in the rear end oh yea rabs 2 cameout in 93 on the explorers so it is rabs one
under that link i put up it has all the info to remove the control box and the speed sensor and how to test the rear sensor and how to get codes out
Starting in 1993, all vehicles use the RABS II system. The major difference between the two systems is the addition of keep alive memory (codes are stored, even if ignition is turned off), and a code 16 can be set which means the system is operating properly.

my wire was just hanging unconnected. Once grounded with the switch on it flashed out the code on and on and on. Another guy on the forum couldn't get his code to flash and he is having the same problem.
