Seat track trouble
I was cleaning my seat tracks and a roller shim fell out; I was almost done. lol Now there is a fair amount of play. Tried to put it back in; I can get it back into position but it quickly migrates and causes a bind. Now I think about it, it has been binding for a long time… It was never an issue because I rarely moved the seat.
It looks like there should be 2 in each track; a front and a back. The passenger side only had one in the back and no play. Maybe Ford was selective using these only as necessary?
I tried spot welding but I’m having trouble grinding the shim inside the track.
Anyone ever have any trouble with these? Any suggestions?
I’m in the process of sourcing a new track which I think is the fix. It doesn’t appear this track was ever repopped.
The track on the right is the drivers side.
Note… Super (and presumably crew) tracks are different than regular cab tracks.

The shims appear to be held in place by the roller pressing on it. There is a little dimple fore and aft to keep it from sliding.
basically it is a floating shim.
