Can TED units be manually controlled?

Just rewired a junk yard seat (2009) to put in my 2001 cutaway 450 and happy to say everything works, but now am wondering if I can just manually run the TEDs off of switches or if they will burn up that way and need to be thermostatically controlled. My other idea was a timer to kill the system after x minutes. Since my truck has no seat controls I gutted all the seat computers and just have 2 switches on/off and hot/cold. There are some thermister wires I can connect to wire into a thermistat but would prefer to keep things simpler and less work if I can.Anybody ever do this?

They do have a temperature sensor at each heating element. This went into the seat modules you pulled out. I would say you could put all this back together, but then the switches, wherever they were located, were connected to the communication network in the vehicle you pulled the seats out of. Too much complication there. If you could find a old school system on a older heated seat, that might work.
