hello, do I have to change my original carburettor to run on ethanol fuel? is it complicated as a transformation and what is the price? thank you
my truck f250 7.5l 1984
If the carb was ever rebuilt, the rebuild kits will have the newer rubber parts that work better with ethanol fuel. If your carb has never been rebuilt, then it needs it badly by now. I would venture to say if its still running ok, that is has been rebuilt at some previous time before you got it. A carb kit is a good idea if it has any age on it. If you can follow instructions, its not too hard to do.
What is the % of ethanol in the fuel?
I ask because here we have 10% fuel as normal and think its 85% is for the flex fuel cars.
Now I have rebuilt my carb but I have an older car that is running an older rebuilt carb and it runs just fine on the 10%.
I would say if you are running 10% with out issues I would keep running it and pick up a rebuild kit for when it dose start to run bad.

I just picked up an F 250 with a 460 and c6. Carb is leaking so first on my list. I'm having trouble finding a rebuild kit... #KT-5568C ? I think. My list # is 50262-2. If kits are no longer out there or of an inferior quality what carb do I change to . Prefer to stay with holley.
If it has a list number then it is a Holley no?
Take that number and call Summit or Jeggs to get a kit as I don't know if a local parts store could get a kit for you.

Thanks, I'll be living on the phone tomorrow getting carb handled and wheels. Has 16.5 rims... want to stay with steel rims but modern diameter and wider than stock.
The carb you have is a holley made for Ford carb. It has lots of emissions stuff about it, and I think it usually comes with a dual power valve which can be hard to find and usually not in the kit. If you don't mind spending the money, you can buy a aftermarket holley, same carb, except it doesn't have all the emissions stuff on it. A 600cfm would do.
My 87 E-350 class C motorhome with a 460 had the 4160 holley with the two stage power valve. I was able to get the right kit using the list number off the air Horn. I think it was a 625 cfm carb.
