Green River Cake Topper!

"Gary Leon Ridgway is pleading guilty to 48 counts of aggravated first-degree murder for deaths he committed in King County. The 54-year-old former truck painter's plea hearing started at 9 a.m. in a King County Superior Court room. In exchange for the plea, he will not face the death penalty. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. "

I absolutely, positively, unconditionally believe, those that offered this deal, and signed off on it, should share his cell - for the duration.

I absolutely agree with you. Actually I think they should all have little 'accidents'.
But I also read that one of the conditions to this deal is that he would admit to all his killings, and tell where the bodies are. I guess it was a toss up for nailing him for only a few, to the many actual killings this animal commited. At least the families of all the victims will have closure.
What a world we live in.

Then I pray they decide to lie to him. 30 seconds after the last one is located, they bleed him out, on the spot.

. . as long as it is not near a stream - don't want that toxic waste getting in the water table.

Only in America...

Do people confess to murdering 48 innocent victims and in the process assure themselves of avoiding the death penalty!! But then of course we've got LOTS of things backwards in this country- the way we treat criminals is just one of them.

ARGH,

Steve

Once again, Washington state has made the news. I didn't realize that people in other parts of the country were aware of what's going on here. We seem to have too many of these kinds of people in the area: the guy in Spokane, the guy in Tacoma, one in Bellingham (I think) and the pig farmer in BC, not too far from here. I hope it's not something in the water or the air.

On another thread discussing executions, there were some who speculated that living a life in prison would be worse than death. With a guy like Ridgway, one can only hope so.

It's like the Olympia beer slogan: "It's the water." More specifically, the 8 months of rain.

I don't think Gary will last long in the prison pop. I forse a Jefry Dohmer type of incident soon after he goes in.

I guess we can always hold the hope.

But what is every bit as troubling *to me* is the people who made the deal and approved it, are still walking the streets and some still collecting their civil service pay checks.

That is just plain WRONG.

...The deal was made for the familys of some of the victems, i.e. locating the bodies to spare him the chair. You can be sure the procecuter knows that he will not stand a chance in the prison system. Regardless, as we speak, he is spending eternity in Hell. And as for me, I hope he lives to be one hundred!

Bill in Miami.

Hi ctfuzzy,

I understand your disgust but I hope your not advocating torture.

honestly, i was right with alot of you. i think he should have been executed...however, i think it is more important for those families to have closure. not to mention, what is worse, life in a cell, or quick, painless death?

and in closing.....

i feel he will meet dahmers fate, as soon as he goes into general population, he is a corpse.

Absolutely NOT. Just cost effective, crime appropriate justice.

Again, I say that part of his deal should have included the prison system having the right to psychologically examine him to try to gain some insight as to why people commit these atrocities. If he is going to be allowed to live, why shouldn't we learn something from his sick mind? Something that may help future generations of law enforcement to solve or even prevent crimes of this magnitude. And as far as torturing the man to death, that puts the rest of us on the same level as the killer that showed no remorse for his crimes. "Vengeance shall be mine" saith the Lord... if he is to be put to death, do it quickly and get it over with.

Yea, exactly. Clearly he already knows how to manipulate the system.

As much as it pains me to think it; I don't think this guy will get whacked the way Dahmer did.

Dahmer was a threat to the population at large. This guy is no threat, he is an established coward. He'll find a husband to protect him, and flourish in prison on "favors" from *his wives* . . . in the D.A.'s office.

...Dahmer was "out there" even for a killer...Pedalphilic-homosexual-cannabil....(freaky)

...Whereas, the green river killer is just yer run of the mill Mass murderer....(respectable) He probably rates somewhere above a gang banger but below a Mafia hitman...on a scale of 1-10
