Was wondering if anyone has had success with the '17+ models for aux lights in the bumper etc.
Specifically, using the up fitter to be the "interrupt" and have your light bar come on with the high beam switch, so a person isn't toggling switches all night long..
My '16 was connected this way, super handy. Just use the up fitter to "arm" the light bar, and when you hit the high beam switch, it lit up the world lol.
However, when I had my '18 done, the tech said "no can do", mind you, this gen truck had only been out a short time, so was hoping some sort of hack has been discovered in the
last 4 years as I'd like to have my '22 rigged this way, if at all possible.
TIA
You can use a relay for this connected to a high beam wire and an upfitter switch.
Something like this -
85 - coil pin from a high beam light wire
86 - coil pin to ground
30 - input coming from upfitter switch (only has power when upfitter switch is in ON position)
87 - output to light bar positive
Turn upfitter switch on, relay has power avaialble, but relay switch only closes when high beam is also engaged. Upfitter off - no power available to light bar, regardless if high beams are on.
My fog lights and KC lights are both ran on relays on my '21 F350.
The fog lights (did not come on truck, as it is an XL) are triggered by the running lights, so they stay on anytime the running lights activate. This means when it is remote started, low beams, or high beams. I like it this way.
The KC lights are powered by Upfitter switch 2, and triggered by the high beams. Zero issues doing it this way.

Do you have halogen or OEM LED headlights? If halogen it should be pretty easy to tap into the high beam signal behind one of the headlights. If you have OEM LEDs it will be more complicated as the truck only sends a command signal to the headlight assembly telling it which mode to run. As I understand there won’t be a wire that’s only hot with the high beams on. (But I’ve been wrong before…)
I rigged up the light bar on my 2017 with factory LED headlights to come on with an upfitter switch on and high beam trigger. However, it seems the 2020+ trucks with factory LED headlights can't be done that way from others trying to do it on here.

I've got the LED headlights, it's a Platinum, new truck will also be a Platinum. Cool, looks like it may work? Or all you folks that have it rigged, on halogen headlights?
