OilGuard Filter Location in Excursion

I have purchased the OilGuard oil filter system for my 2003 6.0L Diesel Excursion. Those on the list who have done likewise, where did you mount their by-pass filter? Any installation tips appreciated. I plan on using Mobil Delvac 1 5W40.

Vino,
Sorry for the belated reply. You probably have found that under the driver's door on the frame is as conveinient as any place. Hope it works well.

Just installed mine 2 days ago. There are 2 unused bolt holes under the HFMC that line up perfectly with the oil gaurd bracket. I also routed the return line to the unused plug on the drivers side valve cover. Routing it to the oil pan didnt look good to me. Ill post some pictures latter. I also used Mobil, very noticable difference. Louder when cold, quieter when warm. The overhead indicates a 1+ mpg increase, wont be able to tell for sure how much till I refill.

Return to drivers side valve cover, used same fitting meant for the replacement of oil pan drain plug.

psdwanabe thanks for posting pictures wasn't going to get oilgaurd because I did not want to take out my fumoto valve to install oilguard. Now I can have the extra oil filtration and keep fumoto valve.

I am confused, you did not return the oil back into the pan, how did you do it.

Well, it eventually makes its way back to the pan. I plumbed it into the drivers side valve cover, see pic.

Tim: The oil leaves the top of the original oil filter, to the input of the oilguard filter, then out of the oilguard filter, directly to the front end of the driver's side valve cover; a hole is drilled just smaller than the same connector that came with the kit & it is self-tapped into the plastic lid; no connection is therefore made down below at the bottom of the oil drip pan. PSWANABE may elaborate if desired, it is his design.

If you look closely at the front end of the driver's valve cover, there is a cylindrical vertical offshoot of the cover with a plastic cover; self-tap the piece which would go into the oil drip pan into it instead.
