Hi. I put a new starter on my 87 f150 and it wouldn't start. The starter is fine but I can hear the fuel pumps running non stop. So I replaced the pressure regulator and vacuum line. No help any ideas?
Usually fuel pumps continuous running, is sign PCM has issues, and its suggested that removing the PCM, and open it up and check for the bad capacitors.
Hi. I took out the computer and turned the switch on and neither fuel pump seems to be turning on. If it's just the filter I'll be so mad at myself lol.

I’m not sure if I understand correctly, you turned the key to RUN with the computer unplugged and the fuel pumps don’t turn on? That is normal.

ok I didn't see anything burnt in the computer but the pumps both run non stop with the computer in and it's not getting fuel to the plugs. I've replaced the pressure regulator and vacuum hose to it.
Computer controls pumps. My guess is you need a new computer..
X2....
The number one symptom of a bad computer is the fuel pump(s) turn on and stay on when cycling the key from the Off to Run position. A few of these pesky computers show no obvious sign of being bad physically, it's inside the magic place where the smoke is still inside with no place to go.

Maybe one of you can tell me, if the pumps are running why isn't gas getting to the firing chamber? The truck was running great before I replaced the starter and fuel pressure regulator
The computer is not pulsing the injectors. The timer inside the computer is never getting a reset to go beyond turning on the fuel pump relay. No other functions are working.

i noticed a sensor beside the fuel pressure regulator, could that be an issue? What about a fusible link?
