Maybe a strange request, but I am wanting to put a fridge in the bed of my F250 for camping. My truck came with a clam shell type cover. Great for weather, but I am limited to things being about 18 inches tall.
I would like to put in a drawer slide. Needless to say, the fridges I am looking at will not fit without a camper shell.
Is there a riser of some sorts that raises the height of the bed sides about 6 inches, and still allows using a cover of some sort? Preferably the clam shell I currently have, would be ideal.
Thanks!
I have never seen anything like you are looking for, for sale aftermarket. You might try a metal fab shop or a boat repair place that works with aluminum. Get them to build you a 3 sided set up that clamps on the top of your bed and will work with your clamp shell on top of that. As far as the tail gate, get a separate piece that connects to the end pieces (at the end of the bed), like a drop in and connect. Make sense?

It does. I was just hoping to not try and invent a wheel. Thanks!
I would think that it would not be a big deal for a metal fab shop or a boat repair place to get some 6" tall thin wall rectangle tubing and weld it up. And then cut some groves on the inside so you can c clamp it to the top of your bed and clamp your cover on top.
Guess it depends on how bad you want that fridge when camping. What about looking for a low profile (but somewhat taller) fiberglass bed cover? Like the style mobile large animal vets use.

That gives me some ideas. I can weld,so will start looking to design something that sits on top like bed caps. Then mount the cover onto that. Trickier part may be the tailgate area, but I'll be retired later this year, ) and should have plenty of time to tinker.
Thanks!
The 1st 6 months of retirement is automatically reserved (set aside by marriage and or nuptials agreement by law # 1.204 paragraph 6.27) for the Mrs honey do list. Did you not read that in the marriage license fine print?
The 1st time I retired back...in 06, I spent the 1st 2 months relaxing and just chilling out. I found a loop hole in the bylaw that got me a 2 month honey do list immediate action deferment (for good behavior), then I knocked out the honey do list in 2 months. Got a bonus for rapid contract completion. I bought another Ford truck with the $. Then 2 more months of Ford truck working on. Then I got bored and went back to work, its a viscous cycle.
