Does anyone have experience with swapping? A few questions:
1. Would OEM fenders, hood and grill fit or only option to choose a fiberglass kit?
2. If OEM parts would work, does anyone sell them reasonably?
3. How durable those fiberglass kits are?
4. Any other suggestions?
Those I've seen who've done this have all used take-off parts from an actual Ford van of 2008 and later. If you have a local DIY salvage yard take advantage of their inventory and take absolutely everything from the firewall forward (sheet metal, brackets etc etc) to do your swap. If in doubt whether you'll need it take it---its better having "extra" parts than missing something.
There are numerous threads here on FTE and other sites where the process and pitfalls are post---do a search and be prepared before you even begin.
Thank you so much - started searching. Some guys go with fiberglass kits, and I was wondering why if straight fit OEM is always better
No idea why---if you see a post or thread where they're used contact the installer for their reasoning.
There is another site I visit frequently where this same swap using OEM parts has been performed by a few DIY Ford van owners. Look for sportsmobileforums.com and search through the threads there.
