Do you ever rest ?
Do you ever rest ?
My Stella, 75 F-150 Viking Edition, has been resting under bed sheets in the barn since mid November.
I won't see her until mid April. I can't believe how many 73 to 79s are still being worked on. I bought an
under dash blower switch last summer. I hope to install it in May when Stella comes home for the summer.

I very recently put propane heat (Mr Heater ceiling hung unit 125,000 BTU) in my shop, so I am year round wrenching now. Good thing it is 20* with ice and light snow fall outside the shop and it is 65* inside. I am working in a T shirt.
With current temps in the -10f to +20f range and tomorrow a chance of 50mph winds, I'm not working on anything outside at my place. I only drove my '78 less than 70miles this year because it started burning a quart of oil on the way to work and another on the way home. I need to get back to putting the new 400 together for it and plan to order some tooling to start doing just that. The new engine is at work so I have access to most of my tools and decent heat. I've transitioned from working on the vehicles though, back to working on drywall in the bedroom that I reinsulated last winter. However, that will also be interrupted by helping go through 93 years of stuff in my grandfather's estate. Oh, I'm getting another car though, a 1948 Crosley. My personal fleet will be up to 8.

Yep, tee shirt and shorts Saturday.... then, low 40s with wind Monday..... OUCH
(I'm afraid we are about to get into winter now...)

The cold alone does not shut us wrenches down. It's the salt on the streets that ruins even the modern iron. We turned in my
wife's 02 Ford Escape for scrap. (56K). The the frame had rusted from front to back. The hoist contact points were
crushing. I sold my 03 Explorer (125K) for $500. Huge holes in the back of both rockers caused by drainage from the sunroof.
Therefore, the vintage iron is stored for the winter. It's only $35. /mo. ea. I found a sweet 04 Chevy Trail Blazer. The body is made
of galvanized steel for that series of GM SUVs.

They only started using salt brine in 2016 around here. That’s probably why my 48 is not a pile of iron oxide. The benefit of our dry climate is a few days after a big snow storm the roads are plowed and dry. Also living in a rural area means only the highway is salted so I feel comfortable driving the 77 in snow occasionally.
-2f the other night, still working on getting a wood stove in the shop.
