Just figured I'd post a brief summary... In February of 2020 I bought a xlt 7.3. While it was a good truck, I was starting to get very rough transmission shifts, clunky transmission, not shifting etc. At that time Ford was doing recalls on the 450s and whatever not the f250 so part of the reason I got rid of it was that the other part is I bought into that whole argument that in order to pay the justification price of a diesel it was x amount of miles.. well I can say I was spending 3k/month of fuel in a 7.3 Ford vs $800-$1000 in a 2021 chevrolet silverado 2500hd duramax. I do a lot of highway towing so that explains my horrible mileage. If I were to stay in town with the odd time out on the highway I could see keeping the 7.3 or other equivalent gasser.
Fast forward to a few days ago I traded my chevy for a 2022 f-250 6.7 lariat. I had no issues with the chevy and even the front end has grown on me but I was in a position where my new business has finally generated enough of a credit that I could get a truck in my business name instead of my personal name. So that's why I did it.
So far I like the ford more than the chevy for the most part. I didn't like how the duramax sounded, the powerstroke sounds better but in my opinion the cummins beats both in sound and in engine brake.
I think the seats are more comfortable in the ford but as of now I'm not a big fan of adaptive steering. I didn't test drive the truck before I bought it so it wasn't until I drove home that I got to experience AS for the first time. Anyone behind me would have had to think I was drunk.
I'll keep it for a while. I never got the extended warranty or the maintenance plan..I wanted to get the warranty but it was so expensive and they weren't budging. I'm in Canada so don't have the luxury of going through those other avenues of getting an extended warranty.
I do think if Ram gets the 10 speed and the bigger cab that will be enough to get me to trade in. But as of now I'm quite happy to be back in a ford.
No real purpose of this post. Guess I'm just saying Hi
I canceled the AS option in order to get my F450 built faster (it is still on order). I am glad to hear that you didn't care for it. I never had it so I won't miss it and it is one less thing to fix if it ever breaks.

Hmm, you sure it is an Adaptive steering side effect? I haven't had that type of experience with my AS equipped truck, that includes the 350 mile drive home from the dealership. I always find it funny how some will read this kind of post and use it to justify their decision to not get the option, ignoring feedback from numerous owners who have had nothing but a positive experience with the option. To be fair, I have never driven a 20+ with AS, I think 20+ is when they added electronic assisted power steering to some builds. With and without AS. It's possible the combination of the two creates a less than desirable effect at certain speeds.
Maybe you'll get used to it, maybe it's the tires, or even a bad factory alignment. Hopefully it gives you great service however long you decide to keep it.....and we like pictures.

I find it funny how some keyboard jockeys have to go off subject with comments like this. You sir are a dope. If you would like to do a search, you will see that I posted a question about AS. The feedback was not as positive as you would have me believe. As I stated, the main reason that I took it off of the order was to get the truck built.

I don't in anyway see how it is considered "off subject", I qouted the topic I was posting in response too. I intentionally kept my comments general, not directing it at any one individual(meaning you). Your posted reasoning was that you left the option off to avoid delays, so why so sensitive to what I wrote? I do appreciate the kind words though.
Edit- since mentioned it, I would be interested to read the thread you are referring to.

There are sheep and wolves.... when a sheep provokes a wolf, it gets bit. My original comment was meant to welcome the OP. His and yours are meant to what??? Maybe the dopes are ganging up...
my 2016 expedition had EAPS that had AS as part of its configuration
i never had a problem or wandering. in fact it would sense if the road was pulling one way or another or the winds pushing etc and would hold the line with no constant effort by me, just same pressure on wheel, i miss
it

Thats cute, is that from a nursery rhyme? Pairs well with the name calling. You seem to be fixated on one comment in my post instead considering the entirety of it. My post clearly wasn't meant to be unwelcoming to the OP. I'm still not even clear why you became so sensitive to it. You say that you are glad to hear that the OP didn't care for AS, does that mean you get upset when others say they do like the feature...maybe that's what it is.
OP, sorry your thread is getting clogged up with nonsense. I'm interested to know if this truck was found on the lot, or if you ordered. Getting Adaptive Steering on a 2022 Lariat was said to be difficult for awhile. I wonder what the build date was. Like I stated before, if the feeling you had is associated with AS, hopefully it's something you just need to get used to, not a nuisance. Or as Senix mentioned, possibly made better by adjusting tire pressure. I know some have found the dealers to grossly over inflate tires on occasion. I'm now curious if the '20+ Super Duty's with AS provide a different feel than the previous years.

How did you manage to burn 3 times the fuel with the gasser? Nobody I have seen has managed that yet. So you can get 9 mpg towing with the diesel but only 3 mpg with the 7.3? My 7.3 gets within 2 mpg of my buddies '18 cummins and within 1 mpg of another friends 6.7. When the 7.3 gets 8-9, the diesels are getting 9-10 at best with similar loads. Empty my truck gets better mileage than the '15 6.7. I just can not imagine the scenario where the diesel gets 3 times the mileage the gasser does, that would be amazing... So when I hauled my old truck cross country and did 9 mpg, the 6.7 would be getting 27??? Doesn't even seem remotely likely that is a true story....
