Ford C4 Transmission
I have picked up a 24 spline C4 core for a project and want to make sure it is "as described" before I proceed. It is represented to be out of a '69 Mustang, behind a 302. The transmission still had the factory code tag attached to it, but after some internet research I can just get it narrowed down to a model, but not a year. The tag reads as follows:
PEE CC A8B
D5ZDA
My research has found that "PEE-C" was from a Mustang or Cougar with 2V or 4V carburation. I can't find what the double "CC" means? I believe the "A8B" represents a January 8 build, but I am uncertain about the final "B" - is that the year? Other charts I have found indicate that the "D5ZDA" is either a part number or serial mfg number, but again nothing definitive.
Are there other number stamped on C4's that help with year - I prefer a '67, '68 or '69 due to the shift pattern - they always start in low gear, rather than in second.
Maybe NumberDummy is out there to save me!

1975 or 76 Mustang 302,Jan 8,2nd shift. You might get the year by looking at the casting date on the case. 74 to mid year 75.....is 75. After mid year 75 into 76....is 76.D5ZDA, 1975,year of intro,Z=Mustang,D is assembly plant,A is part revision. Actual part number was omitted from the tag.
The B could mean second shift of the day. D5Z, yes if Mustang and 302 you should be able to identify extra small bell housing and convertor. Takes a special flex plate and block plate, flex plate is around 141 teeth. 26 spline started in 70 so not sure what you have. Is it a case fill or pan fill?
