what year is my engine from?

Here are three views of my 1966 f100's engine. Orginally it had a 6 cyc but a PO made several changes including:
302 V8, auto transmission, PS, PB. I am wondering what year these are from. How can I determine if the transmission is a C4 or a C6?

Without casting numbers and the date code, it will be almost impossible to date the engine.

C4 vs. C6: C4 has a separate bell housing while the C6 is one piece.

Easiest after that is to look at the pan:

Understanding casting numbers, found at the top of the SBF forum:

Kelly hotrod - Ford Engines Page 4

Note the casting number will only tell you the year the part was engineered and introduced. Some casting numbers run for years.

The casting number is behind the starter, and the date code is just ahead of the driver side cylinder head, both pictured here:

You just asked these same questions in another thread (New 1966 flareside owner) in this forum. Did you read what I typed in this thread?

I told you how to ID the trans, where the ID tag is located, and how many trans pan bolt holes the possible 3 trans types have.

Gave you the location where to find the engine ID tag, told you about the worthless casting number that cannot ID the size of the engine, since it's a foundry mark.

I also gave you the info on the BODY code you asked for, other info and suggested you post pics of the engine, but you started another thread to add them and asked these same questions again.

Duplicate threads confuses the issue because you'll get multiple answers in each one from multiple members, some of the info may be correct, some may not.

newbie mistake

Thanks, Bill. I am so green I didn't realize I posted same thing on a different thread. I will go read that. Thank you for responding on this thread as well. I really enjoy reading your answers to so many different questions from so many users. I'll get the hang of this posting stuff, I promise!
