Is the Retrax pro mx what is offered on the Ford price and build as the retractable option?
Yes it is. I just ordered with a F350 and confirmed matching one on a truck at the dealership against my own retrax pro Mx - the only difference being that it’s Ford Branded
The tailgate extrusion is what I was referring to on the Roll n Lock. Maybe not all of the models have it, but I got the impression that it was part of their standard system.
I have a RollNLock on my 2020 f450 and didn’t have anything screwed to the tailgate. I’m on my third one and is the only one I would buy . I installed the current one myself and was a easy install. I ordered mine from tonneaucovered.com and saved quite a bit of money.
I have a Retrax mx on my current truck 2017 F350 Lariat. And have a truck on order 2022 F350 Lariat. I have agreed to sell the current cover with the truck.
The current bed cover has been pretty good. Had issues with the rails shifting. They have changed the mounting system and got new rails and it has stayed in place. But recently had a bearing fail. Customer service wanted 65$ for a bearing kit. It is the same bearing in a skateboard. Got 10 for 12$ on Amazon. Was not horrible experience, but the lady got a little snarky in her email.
Gator recoil looks promising, but only locks at certain spots. But half the cost of another Retrax mx or the gator comparable model.
Is roll in lock the choice.? Share the your likes and dislikes of different models.
Thanks for any help.
I went with the RETRAX because I can close it anywhere on the bed and there's no strap to pull and worry about tangling or flying around when the cover is open. It's only been on for two months so can't speak to longevity, but no trouble so far. I bring it right up to the fifth wheel when towing.

I also like that I can pull the Retrax MX Pro up close to my gooseneck when towing to keep things mostly dry in the front of the bed. I actually have the Linex branded version and got it installed when Linex sprayed my bedliner. It's been a good setup for sure!
