Well my truck, 85' 6.9 F350 T19 has a wicked drain and has been eating batteries and regulators but I've got new cables on the way and that ought'ta fix it. However, on those days and nights I'm unlucky enough that my truck cranks out it leaks out a decent amount of coolant. At no other time it does this, only when it slowly cranks over and doesn't start. Anyone else experience this? No clue when the water pump was replaced if ever as I just bought the truck but I plan on going electric when I save up enough. I think I'm going to purchase a spare and keep it on standby.
You gonna do an electric water pump??? Why? Just replace the water pump you got now with a like-for-like, electric is asking for trouble assuming you can even find one to begin with.
New battery cables wont help with your parasitic draw or regulator problem. It may help your cranking issue.
On powerstroke engines, they have a dynamic waterpump seal that weeps a bit if the engine isnt running. Idi's dont have that feature so you probably just have a older waterpump that needs to be replaced. Skip the electric waterpump idea and just buy the most expensive replacement pump you can find, preferably a motorcraft part. The first one has lasted 30 something years, the replacement will probably last just as long.

Ya that's what I figured in regards to water pump. Electric fans I plan on doing and just getting rid of the stock fan, not electric water pump my bad . And in regards to my heavily corroded and rusted cables, on the Bullnose forum on fb they said to start there. Also on a side note how'd you get your truck description in there?
