Scanned a few threads here but nothing is exactly what I'm seeing. When I turn my truck on it sounds different, the weird dash dinging instead of the sync3 tones. Everything works except audio. I tap audio on the screen and it does nothing. Phone connects, I have a subscription to Sirius but that wont work. Everything else in the head unit works.
Seems when sync3 starts acting up people take it to their dealer to get flashed and that seems to fix a bunch of issues. I was wondering if there is any way I can do this upgrade myself? I have forscan. I did a check for updates through the head unit's UI but that didn't fix it.
What year is the truck? Instead of checking for updates through the units UI, go to the website and check. Through the UI my truck has never said an update was available. Going to the website however has given me two updates since 2019.

2020 f350 gasser. Thanks for the tip, I'll check that and see if I can update.
I've done updates on a 2020 and 2022 via the head unit connected to my home wireless network. Seems to take forever. Like an hour or so. But it did finally complete. The most recent was just last night on the 2022. If you go this route leave the truck running. The battery saver will kill power before the update completes.
One time in the past I downloaded from the website onto a stick and the stereo was never right after that. But that was several years ago so don't let that hold you back now.

For whatever reason being parked in front of my house, showing connected to my home WiFi, scanning for updates from the truck has never returned any results. Even when the website shows an update available. The USB update is fast, this last time took under 10 minutes. Now the Nav updates are another story. Those seem to take awhile.
Do a soft reset. Hold the power and forward arrow until it reboots. Try that then a hard reset if the soft doesn't work. I am pretty sure the hard reset is taken the negative cable off the battery for half hour.

I can understand that. I had a 2017 and a 2019. I know there were updates because I'd done them with thumb drives. Yet when the head unit checked for updates it showed none.
With the 2020 and the new 2022 they each found an update via wireless. I haven't had navigation since the 2017 and wouldn't ever bother with it from the factory. The 2017 came off the lot with it or else I wouldn't have had it then either.

So is this dealer only?
Might be a dumb question, but since you have forscan have you checked for any for any DTC's (mainly in the apim)
Thanks all, taking the neg off the battery for 30m did it.
There was no update available on the head unit or the website where I entered my VIN.
Not sure what to call that. It's maybe a memory reset? It didn't even remove my bluetooth phones or sirius presets. Don't get me wrong, not complaining, just a strange "reset"
Again, thanks everyone, saved a trip to the dealer.

It is a computer nothing more or less. You just did a reboot, bits get stuck sometimes. Glad it worked out for ya.
