Tailgate handle question

Hi all,

So are any of the new Super duties (F250 mainly) equipped with a good ole handle to drop the tailgate?

My Dad has a Lariat and that button release doesn't even work, it unlatches and doesn't drop without some wiggling around. I would vastly prefer a regular handle.

Thanks

the latch pins might need adjustment.
if its tight to close the gate, then he might try moving the pins back a little at a time until it releases properly

Standard Lariat like mine, uses a regular handle, no remote release.

XL, XLT, & Lariat Value Package have the standard mechanical latch. Lariat Ultimate and above have the electronic button release.

There are two "L" shaped rubber blocks near the pins the tailgate latches to on either side of the bed. If they get turned around funny then you will have trouble getting the tailgate open. I'm thinking of gluing mine so they don't move.

Worth looking at.

I had to replace the release motor. Would work intermittently to drop the gate, but not always. It would always "try", could here it cycling, just didn't have enough torque to move the activation rods far enough.
$100 later, and works like brand new. Tried adjusting the pins, the rubbers etc, all to no avail. Just ,right be the same problem. Pull off the inspection plate with all the Torx, and close the gate, and have someone hit the button while you watch.
My guess is you have the same issue.
