Another heater question.................

my heater only blows cold (a/c cold)...... so i checked under the hood and found that the water lines to the heater were cold and the ones from the engine were hot, so I pulled the vacume line (and there was vacume there) from the water valve and the lines are now hot... there is still no hot air. It seems as the temp selector wont select hot. but I know it can...

Now it even gets better...........

During the summer when i went to use the a/c it would put out cold air a idle, but when you put it in gear a drove it it would go full hot. any suggestions on where to go.

Its a 97 ranger with a 4cyl, auto trans

Thanks Doug

Sounds like a blend door problem.

I'm betting the door actuator has a hole in the diaphragm causing it to leak vacuum and not function properly.

Have you noticed any "skipping", missing, poor power, rough idle?

I notice a hesitation and a mis or skip when you first go from idle to power.

By Geove, I'll wager five pebbles on a vacuum leak.

Find the door actuator arm Rockledge mentioned. Attached to that door-arm (possibly indirectly) is a little gizmo that has a vacuum line on one side, and some form of linkage connected to that arm you just followed on the other.

*Try* to get your ear right close to that "gizmo" while you "race" the engine a little. You should not hear a continual sucking sound - unless it's leaking at the line connection or the diaphragm inside the actuator (gizmo).

. . but remember, I'm only wagering five pebbles - I could be wrong.

HTH.
