ac compressor

just recently i've been having this problem with my truck. when ever the a/c compressor clicks on the engine stumbles really bad for a second and then comes back up to where it is supposed to be. i know the rpms are supposed to drop a little bit, just because of the fact that there is a load being put on the motor, but it drops to where it is about to die, and then comes right back up. has any one ever had this problem or have any idea what it might be? thanks in advance!!! :-)

I'm not sure what you mean ctfuzzy, LOL. It's good to be the moderator, you can fix your spelling mistakes.

IAC = idle air control valve, normally located on the throttle body.

Could the IAC cause any other problems with the AC system? I know I wrote about this not too long ago, but my compressor seems to be acting strange on my '94 4L V6. It will click on and I can feel cool air through the vents. It cycles a few times, and randomly it will kick on and blow warm/hot air (depends on how hot it is outside).

I've recharged the system. I guess it could be a leak somewhere. Any clues?

rdg, it could be as simple as needing a tune up.

How many of those 140,000 miles since it had plugs & filters?

mine has 75,000 on it now, i already replaced the plugs and wires with new ford parts. i can consistently drop the idle below 500 rpm when the a/c is turned on. the a/c clutch also seems to cycle more than it should. i check the iac and it passes the resistance check and the unplug check. not sure what next?
