Rotor question

Hey guys,
First things first.....i have a77 F250, rwd, 460, with single piston calipers on the front. There is a guy over here selling new rotors (centric 12165022) and pads (centric 10200500) for a decent price. When I look on Rockauto where he bought them, it says the rotors are for dual piston calipers and the pads are for single piston calipers. I only see one rotor on the site that says it's for single piston calipers. My question is this: are rotors really only made for either single or dual piston calipers?
Thanks in advance for any and all help

The pads and the hub & rotor assemblies are different single piston vs. dual piston.

What is the person selling, just the rotor only or the hub & rotor assembly? Ford only sold the rotor with the hub as an assembly.

The pads are either single piston or dual piston. With single piston, are the same 1973/79 F100/250 2WD & 1975/79 F150 2WD

Are you sure your rotors can't be turned? if they can be cleaned up I'd rather have them than new chinese rotors.

If Rock Auto's listing is accurate, Centric 12165022 is the hub and rotor for dual piston calipers.

But the Centric 10200500 pads are for single piston calipers. Perhaps you should buy them if the semi-metallic material is to your liking.

Thanks for the answers guys, i knew i could count on you. They are the whole router/hub assembly and not only rotors. I wrote the guy again to confirm the number and he sent me a pic of the invoice they are centric 12165002 NOT 22. I searched them and although Rockauto no longer has any, they are for single piston calipers. I don't think my rotors are bad....i was just thinking of getting them for the future because they're cheaper than I'd pay for new ones plus shipping plus customs charges and they're already here. I also don't know if they turn rotors over here. Is the centric brand Chinese?

If you're sure they are for the single piston, and the price is good, perhaps you could buy them and the pads (if you like the semi-metallic). Be sure to protect them from corrosion. I don't know where they were made. If the rotors or their packaging indicates country of origin, the fellow who has them may be able to tell you.
Amazon doesn't show Centric 12165002, but the other Centric models they have are shown as coming from China.

Hi Ozzie, are the semi metallic pads no good? I only have experience with the semi metallic or the old asbestos pads. I thought ceramic pads were for more high performance vehicles. Mine is just a nice weather driver, I don't do any towing or heavy hauling and it's no street machine powerhouse that i need to stop on a dime.

If you've used semi-metallic before, then you are familiar with them. You won't be finding any asbestos any more. Full metallic probably shouldn't be used for regular street use. The other possibility is ceramic. You may want to consider them. Here is a review of the types available: https://www.bridgestonetire.com/lear...ic-brake-pads/

I would think anyplace that has disc brakes would have shops that turn rotors but I don't know.

A set of original rotors should last forever if the pads are kept up and the driver is competent. chinese ones not so much I've seen them gall under normal use. if you chose to put cheap rotors on I'd stay with basic pads to give them the best chance at surviving.

My experience, for just driving, regular highway use, semi metallic pads have better initial bite than ceramics ... like when that big buck comes off that bank in front of you. Ceramics have less dust on the wheels though. Ceramics are some better after you've just rode them down that last 2 mile long 10% down grade with load on. Ceramics are harder on rotor wear as they leave heat in the rotor, semi metallics will absorb heat, but then they will transfer more heat to the pistons, fluid, etc. My '77 wears semi metallics and it's original rotors. I tried ceramics on a '92 Thunderbird once, and one day a car pulled out in front of me and I jumped on the brakes, felt like didn't have much for a few seconds, then they bit. Swapped them back to semi metallics that day, brakes better for initial cold bite again.

I live in Germany though...... I'm not saying there aren't any places that do it, but i have looked a little and haven't found anybody yet. I must admit, i haven't looked all that hard because I haven't really needed my rotors turned. I recently found a shop over here (haven't been there yet) that specializes in classic American cars so maybe they can do it or know someone that can.
