I think I remember reading a thread about using explorer lift struts to replace worn/failed struts on an EX. Anyone remember this thread or have any information on replacement struts other than dealer? Local parts stores have no listing yet.
Thanks
Why would they put different struts on a 2x4 or 4x4? That's stupid. I might just look into changin' those things. 1-2" could be all I need so that I don't have to duck anymore. Thanks for the idea!!!
It worked on mine, I don`t bang my mellon anymore. Oh by the way when you do change them, support the hatch with a 2x4 or whatever. It is heavy. I thought I support the hatch with one hand and change with the other........ya right...

I think Ford put shorter struts on the 4x4's because it sits higher and they don't the window to hit the ceiling or overhead garage doors when the window is open.
Thanks for the responce. That gets me a start on the issue. Is it hard to believe that the struts that I have already went out. Well at least one of them. Only 2.5 years old and one blew?
ANybody here work at a Ford dealer and could possible measure the struts of the Expy and 2x4 X Just wondering if the Expy struts are longer thus lifting the gate higher, 1-2 inches just won't get it for me, I'm 6'3 and killing my head everyday.
