Question anti theft code for driver's door

I just brought a 2000 excusion and it din't have a manual with it where on the truck can ya find the code the ford place said in the back by the spare nothing there

The code is on a card that comes with the manual. If the manual is gone, then the little card probably is too.

The dealer can read the code off the PCM. Most dealers charge $30-$40 for this little task.

One word that goes hand in hand with almost every Ford dealership........Extortion.

I thought there was a procedure to change the code using the ignition/key ?

There's a procedure for changing the code using the Ford ORIGINAL code. I do not recall anything in my owner's manual about using the key for the exterior keypad code. And you don't "change" the code, you simply add a second code. The factory code remains regardless ... imbedded in the X's computer.
