Hi everyone! - I was under my truck today for an oil change… and noticed this. I’ll take it in and have it looked at but would appreciate any feed back or questions for the service guys.
thanks everyone!
I’m no mechanic but I believe it’s the tranny. Oil level is good I checked it right away.
I’m not sure how many miles you have on the truck but it might be a good time to do a trans service, filter change and install a new gasket. I second I would first check the tightness of the bolts.

65,000 kms (40,000miles)
And thanks! I was thinking the gasket will probably need to be done but didn’t even know there was a filter for the transmission.
Transmission pan bolts on the 6r140 are 80 lb in according to the service manual for my 2017. Do not over torque these bolts. That's only 6.6 lb ft. Most torque wrenches cannot go that low reliably. Find someone with a 1/4" digital torque wrench if you can.
if it were mine i would drop the pan , change any filters while i was there and use new gasket since you dont know if the old gasket is compromised and perhaps thats why its leaking in the first place.
the book may have a specific crisscross tightening pattern. if not then just do a even crisscross like lugnuts. any half decent inlb wrench that starts off around 25 should be fine.i see no reason it has to be digital.
Used to be transmission filter kits came with a new gasket.
Be sure to get the right transmision fluid. Ford has changed some over the years and it's different stuff, or some transmission use different fluids.
The advice about the 1/4" torque wrench that can be set in inch pounds is good advice. It's really easy to strip the threads out, break a bolt, or damage a gasket if you overtighten.
Not a bad idea to change that transmission fluid/filter every 40,000 miles either. A few quarts of fluid, a filter kit and an hour of time every few years beats the cost of replacing the transmission one of these days.
That sweating gasket will develop into a dripping leak soon
I agree it is rare to have a trans pan gaskets leak now days with the reusable gaskets
Someone may have serviced it and replaced the gasket with cork or rubber?
Buy a new pan for it with a drain plug if you can afford one (or weld a drain plug in your pan)
Yes invest in a 1/4 inch torque wrench
If the gasket has been replaced go get another new expensive one from Ford
That combined with your new drain plug will make your truck much nicer to service
