I have a 2019 drw 350 and I just purchased it used from a Toyota dealership, it has 60k miles. After I purchased the truck I brought it to the local Ford dealership to inquire about a Ford extended warranty, they had me sit with their finance guy. 4k, 5 years 48k miles. Seemed pretty steep to me, especially considering that I have the STX. It doesn't have all the options like many others.
They actually aren't priced based on options or trim level. I was surprised to find gas or diesel came back being the same price too when I played around with the quote generator. Your mileage puts the truck into a different kind of extended warranty with different pricing. Higher pricing. If you call around I'm sure you can find better than the qoute you recieved, but expect it to be fairly expensive.
The way I'm reading the extended warranty info on Flood Ford's site... Remember all Ford Protect plans start at the vehicles original retail date and 0 miles. You can find this date in the FordPass app(please see our faq for help).
So, if your truck is new, you're paying for an extended warranty for the first few years when you are already covered by the factory warranty?

Yes, you could look at an 8 year esp essentially being an extra 5 years on the bumper to bumper and how ever many additional miles. You don't pay the deductible(if you have one) until the factory warranty is finished.
Check your food pass app for the guys that bought used. After turning down the dealer offered warranty I was home setting up the app. And noticed in the warranty section under esp there are two policies listed. I called customer service and sure enough they go with the truck not the person who purchased them.
You used truck guys might get lucky like I did.
I’ve never made a claim nothing claim so in can’t attest to how they handle things.
A word of caution, I think the ESP goes with the truck and the person. I say this because the ESP is transferrable to a new owner but there is a $75 fee. You may not have gotten a complete answer from the customer service person. You may find your claim denied if your name as the current owner does not match the name on the original contract.
I think the price varies by State and coverage options. When I quoted the ESP for my 2019, Ziegler was cheaper for the base ESP (including a discount code) but was more expensive than Flood when I added the optional coverages. It is always good to get quotes from the most popular three, Flood, Ziegler and Lombard.

That is typical for just about any extended warranty whether it's for a car or a refrigerator.

I asked this specific question when I called. Informed them that I just purchased the vehicle and wanted to register it to me. They took my vin came back and said your all set. Now they may have changed my name at that time but he did not ask for A fee or anything Else. Could just be ford being sneaky lol.

well thats opposite from what I was always told about ford esp’s, that they are NOT transferable and if you sell before expiration you can get a refund on remaining warranty. That’s a pretty big selling point on a vehicle with say 20k miles left on 150k warranty. Of coarse thats also a reason I only get 4 years/150k. If its transferable I will absolutely start getting longer time frames for resale.
