Perfect highboy build

Is it better to buy a 67-72 highboy or do the 2wd whole frame swap w 73-79 4x4 frame? Looking for pros and cons

That's all personal preference and depends on what you want in the end.

Do you have more time or money? Do you want top resale or something to take out 4 wheeling? Do you want 100% stock, mostly stock, or a lot of modern updates? What level of skills and experience do you have?

Perfect build is subjective and Lrrr-RulerOfOmicronP summed it up very well. Mine is somewhere in between stock and full on modern build as I went with updated axels, brakes and engine build.

Old saying, it is, what it is. Standards in performance keep changing every year model. Assuming you prefer the styling of a '67-'72, anything can be done, but it will get expensive. IMO, swallow your pride, find a '77 1/2- '79 F 250 4x4, styling is similiar. Ford spent alot of money re engineering the F 250 4x4 to make it more driver friendly and received 4x4 of the year in '77 due to the changes.

Lots of truth here on the above statements.

See my thread here for another take, and I am just getting started...

There is another way to get a 67-72 F-250 4wd using a modern drivetrain. Buy a 2wd F-250 and convert using a Battle Born Brakes kit, using 2005+ Super Duty axles and PS gear which you have to provide.

Although the build quality and design of the brackets is nice, the overall integration is hack, sorry. Looks out of place.
I get that most people don't have the ability to build a custom chassis/suspension, so this enables a bolt on type of install. Price is decent.
But after all that work and money those stock radius arms hanging way down are a fail. So not the 'perfect' highboy recipe IMO, but maybe for others.

where does driveshaft go? suspension x-member is right in the way.

OP, what is your definition of perfect highboy? stock looking? improved ride? budget? Period correct parts or modern? How are you going to use it?

I don't know where those pictures came from, but I don't think that is a Battleborn SD leaf spring conversion. The pictures you posted look like a coil spring conversion. Not the same thing...

A "perfect" truck is what you think it is. Stock High Boys are horrible trucks. Power steering, disc brakes, better engines, better trans, better t-case, are all great fixes to a bad truck (stock).

If all you want is the look, there are many ways to accomplish that with modern comforts.

Obviously they offer both types: brackets for HB front SD leaves, and a bracket kit for 2005+ SD coil and radius arm conversions:
