auto shut off

I have a 21 F250 with 7.3 gas motor. Left it idling with fire lights on, on the side of road. It shut off some time during the call. It started right back up, It has dual batts and alts so I dont think it was voltage issue, Do these trucks have Idle timer and can it be turned off? Can't have the truck shutdown on interstate was about 30mins into call

I’ve had mine run by itself parked for longer than that. Mine is a 21 with 6.2. Had it on the side of the road while inspecting damage to a fiber cable. Never any auto shutoff and I don’t think the 7.3 is any different?

On our 2022 XLT 6.2, there is an automatic engine stop that limits idle to 30 minutes unless you disable it temporarily but it resets after engine is stopped and restarted. Apparently you cannot disable permanently.

According to the owners manual; "Automatic engine stop turns the engine off. The ignition also turns off in order to save battery power. Before the engine shuts down, a message appears in the information display showing a timer counting down. If you do not intervene within 30 seconds, the engine shuts down. Another message appears in the information display to inform you that the engine has shut down in order to save fuel. Start your vehicle as you normally do."

Before getting out of your rig and you want it to idle indefinitely you can go to your settings and switch off the idle timer;
1. Using the information display controls on the steering wheel, select Settings.
2. Select Vehicle Settings.
3. Switch 30min Max Idle on or off.
Note: You cannot permanently switch off the automatic shutdown. If you switch it off, it turns on each time you switch the ignition on.

You can stop the engine shutdown, or reset the timer, at any point before the 30-second countdown has expired by doing any of the following:
• Pressing the brake pedal or accelerator pedal.
• Pressing the OK or RESET button during the countdown.
