Hey guys I have a 91 Ford F150 with a 4.9. I've replaced, air filter, spark plugs n wires, yes they are in right firing order, did them individually, idle control valve, mao sensor, cleaned my egr valve, fuel filter, fuel pump, ignition relay,O2 sensor, electronic part of ignition switch, distributor, and I'm sure I've left something out. My issue is still there. My truck shuts off but always cranks right back up with no problem. It will shut.off while driving and idling. I got a 337 code last night. Not sure if that will be anything to do with my issue, have been told.yes and no. Btw, the code is for my egr pressure sensor. Any advice welcome and yes I've done the work myself
OK the manual with the 4.9 has a different procedure for code retrieval than the auto. Your 91 should be like mine and give you two digit codes instead of three. Also the truck should be at operating temperature when running KOEO key on engine off codes. These KOEO codes should be addressed before going to KOER key on engine running.
Yep that code is pertinent,,,Get a fuel pressure tester and Ill guarantee when you turn the key to the run position it may not say 43psi like its supposed to....
If you do have to put a new pump put a 255lph one youll be glad you did.
Everytime I replace the pump I replace the fuelpump relay fuelfilter and replace the OEM regulator or rebuild the adjustable ones too..Then I put some transmission fluid or some Lucas fuel treatment in the tank and let the injectors get a lil love when the fuel flows through and condition the new fuel regulator diaphragm and new fuelpump with a lil lubrication aswell........
You might want to try these steps below too seeings you changed everything ...
Bleed down the EEC by disconnecting the battery for 20 mins reconnect then on restart put a full load on it by turning on all accessories for 2 mins then turn off the load items you turned on and drive it moderately for 10 miles to reset fuel and spark tables to your driving habits....
Doing the load sense steps by adding a full intense load for two minutes on the system idling will sync all the new sensors and set minimum voltage calibration in the EEC......
These steps must be done every 3500 miles when doing an oil chnge and everytime the battery dies or is disconnected.......Even when a sensor is changed too........
