Ford Tailgate cart: I got a '22 F350 Super Duty with the camper cert. But to get the camper on it I have to remove and store the tailgate.
Tailgate with the built-in step and camera and locks etc must weigh about 100 lbs and does not come with carrying handles, very clumsy to deal with.
Some 1" square tubing, pipe insulation and a HF furniture dolly and it works great. Welded on a couple elbows on the bottom so it slides down into a hook to hold the bottom edge in place and add the strap. Just unhook the wires, remove it from the hinges and lay it on the cart.
My 2011 with step, handle, camera, and I'm sure a bunch of led ballast, is ridiculously heavy. Especially when compared to my 96 tailgate. I use a hand truck on my 2011. The 96 I pickup and carry around like a feather.
Our 2019 F-350 Lariat’s tailgate with built-in step, camera and electric lock weighs 85 lbs.
“Just unhook the wires”? Hah! Our tailgate’s harness has four connectors which must be threaded through the clearance hole in a very specific order. It can take me as long a 20 minutes to remove the harness. 🤬
