The Windows 7 laptop might not be able to connect because the WPA/WPE encryption is not compatible. The Android tablet. Does it see the hotspot? If so check the encryption method and make sure they match. I don't know the Android OS so I am not sure how to tell you to do this.
If the Win 7 laptop sees it then also check it's encryption method.

Neither one recognizes the truck wifi network.
Tablet says network unavailable when I try to manually enter it.
AT&T rep finally called back, and she could only tell me that the Ford rep told her that the wifi wasn't compatible with my devices and I should contact the manufacturer and have them reset the system to match the hotspot.
I seriously doubt they will do anything for me on the tablet, and the laptop is outdated, no more support for it.
But, I will try and contact the tablet manufacturer and ask.

You can buy WiFi adapters that plug into the USB port. That would give you the latest/greatest WiFi protocols. Would it work? Probably, as long as the OEM WiFi on the laptop doesn't have the modern protocols.
how do you even get the wifi setup in the truck?
i have the att service and i have the wifi enabled in sync, but i do not see any indication of a truck hotspot.
on my gm, it showed the signal strength and my phone actually connected to "my truck" wifi
Is your truck WiFi security type in settings set to WPA2?
Since your phone is connecting and if you're using Android (likely similar with iPhone), selecting the connected WiFi network will provide basic network info such as frequency and security type, just to confirm how your phone is connecting to the truck hotspot.
