Anyone ever heard of this? Crawling around under my new F550 6.7 and can't find the fuel filter/conditioning module with the water drain. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, so I followed the fuel lines from the tank all the way to the filter on top of the engine, and I kid you not, there is no primary filter/conditioning module or water drain on this truck. Could this have been an oversight or does ford think the engine filter is enough now on the cab & chassis trucks?

On the F-550 chassis cab with the standard 40 gallon fuel tank aft of axle, Ford installs the frame mounted diesel fuel filter and conditioning module with the water drain immediately adjacent to and ahead of the aft axle fuel tank.
In fact, the fuel filter and module can appear to be part of the fuel tank, but they are in fact separate and severable hunks of plastic.
I've replaced the diesel fuel filter conditioning module on the 2021 F-550 that I took delivery of earlier this year, due to a non warrantable failure (the plastic elbow fractured) while test fitting a vocational body on the frame.
One or more of the photos below may also be of earlier F-550s with the same fuel filter module in the same location. I just went through my photos looking for pics that will help you visualize were the filter is actually located.
You guys are amazing, I wasn't looking by the tank, I was looking up and down the frame rail for the dfcm like what was on my 2016. Of course, had I just read the manual...
Anyway, I can't find the part number above, or the FD-4631 reference in the manual on Amazon, but did find FD-4625, which appears to be the same, and the descriptions indicate they would fit my truck. Anyone know if the FD-4625 is the same?
Personally I would get a dealer part. Us with 11's and later trucks have problems with filters that aren't stock. Not sure about your truck with the different filters. But with the dealer you know it's correct. I got my DEF heater from these guys at a decent price. https://www.autonationfordwhitebearlake.com/

FD-4631 is the entire DFCM Module... as in the entire plastic housing that the filter fits in. This part number includes a new filter inside the housing, but you obviously don't need to change the entire DFCM to just change the fuel filter. I posted the housing part number because you asserted in your original post that your DFCM was missing or never installed, hence the part number I posted was in response to the part number you alleged wasn't on your F-550.
If you now merely want to change your fuel filter (your original post did not state this) then you do NOT need FD-4631, as you've now found that your truck indeed has one after all. Instead, you can just get the FD-4625 replacement filter.
The FD-4625 replacement filter is the element that is inside the FD-4631 diesel fuel conditioning module housing (that includes a filter as shipped).
