Tuck or remove and cover(?)

Has anyone here recovered their bench seat with a blue moving blanket? We moved a couple of years ago, and I'm swimming in those cheap blue moving blankets. As a simple project I'm considering removal of the bench seat and "re-upholstering" my seat with one of those blankets, or would tucking the blanket in work just as well? Any ideas?

You will have to attach it at the bottom, otherwise people's butts sliding on it will pull it out. You can use zip ties or even better if you get the hog-nose rings and pliers that the upholstery shops use. You will need to remove the seat from the truck and separate the 2 parts to do it right.

Thank you. My seat isn't torn, but is very dirty cloth. No sense in getting my overalls dirty when I drive.

If they are the cheapos like I have used, the blue seperates from the padding fairly quick. Once that is gone, the rest falls apart fast after.

Wallmart has Dickies covers that last for 3-5 years of near daily use. Easy to pull and wash as needed. Covercraft has nice heavy duty ones.

Lastly, buy/rent a small or large carpet cleaner and clean the seats with it. You will be surprised how much you use the thing if you buy it.

I pretty much put the saddle blanket style covers from theseatcoverman on every pickup I've ever had. I've never had to replace the seat cover due to them wearing out (I've had to replace them due to them getting soaked in schmoo, but that ruined the seat under them as well, that wasn't the seat covers fault.) But that assumes that you like the saddle blanket look, and you don't mind spending a little extra.

I suppose I should bite the bullet and buy a decent seat cover. I thought I would just use what I have already. The sole purpose of this truck is boat launching in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and garbage hauling, with the occasional horticultural duties.
