Drivers Seat back collapses

I have a 2003 Ranger with 60/40 front seats. The drivers side seat back has "let go" and fallen into the reclined position at least 3 times. This only happens (so far) when I am getting into the truck. I kind of lean into the seat back when getting in. I have a service manual for the truck but it's not much help when it comes to the seat mechanism. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so what did you do to fix it?? Anyone know how to get the seat covers off so I can investigate??

Thanks to all in advance.

I had that problem on one of my Aerostars. I found a broken bolt holding the back onto the seat. Some things you just have to take apart to find.

I'd suggest that you remove the seat assembly to work on removing the covers. When you have it out of the truck, turn it upside down to remove the seat cover. There are probably some long plastic clips that hold the cover to the seat frame. Pull those off and the seat cover should come off for you. The seat back cover can be loosened in much the same way, at least so that you can get to the seat back hinge area.

Good luck.
