2019 Tuning

I've had my 2019 for a few months now and pretty much narrowed down that I want the Ezlynk tuner, but I can't decide on the best route to purchase, and what tunes. My old 6.4 I used a Mini-max and loved it, and the way I could switch between tunes, trans tunes, etc, but from what I am seeing, those days are long gone. I'm likely going to end up with emissions intact, although I prefer the other route, it just doesn't look as simple as it used to be. So I have a few questions.

1. Do I buy the tuner by itself ($500ish), then find the tunes I want to run on it later or is it cheaper as a bundle?

2. Can I set myself as the "tech" so if whatever company I go through ends up out of business, i'm not stuck? (I've heard some of the horror stories with this, and my son had his setup as himself as the tech, but most don't offer this from what I can see)

3. What tunes are recommended? PPEI, Calibrated, GPD, or others?

4. If I purchase clean tunes, then later decide on dirty tunes, can i just select between the two as I wish (with hardware change of course), or do I always have to go back to the "tech" to get it done? Basically I want as much control over my tuning as I had with the mini-max on the 6.4.

Feel free to PM me if need be, I know some of this is not talked about the same as it used to be.

Thanks!

1. Yes you can buy a "blank" Ez Lynk and then purchase tunes later so no rush. The places that sell tunes will often sell a EZ Lynk by itself, tunes by themselves, or a combo of EZ Lynk with tunes. Price wise its the same. Ez Lynk with tunes (assuming unlimited support) runs you $1300. Ez Lynk is $500 and tunes by themselves $800 so no real price difference.

2. Im not running Ez Lynk so im not sure about this from personal experience. However, from the places that sell tunes, it seems that the "tech" is someone from the tuning company. It seems you have to connect with a tech from the tuning company to get you started. Below is a link on using Ez Lynk you can read up on.

3. Be aware that some of these companies that used to do d-lete tunes no longer do so you gotta be up to date on what they offer. PPEI and Calibrated only offer Emissions Compliant tuning so if you go with them and want some weight loss tunes, you're outta luck. G-D-P and Proven are two companies that offer Emissions On and Off tuning and a lot of people run them. Proven seems to be on a hot streak lately, so they are worth checking out. In today's tuning landscape, you will have better luck running tunes from a Canadian company because the ones stateside have been hit, are lying low (i.e. hard to reach so no customer support), or have a higher chance of being hit by EPA.

4. With the Ez Lynk, you have access to a catalog of all the tuning company's tunes so you will be able to switch between their Emissions On and Off tuning (if they offer it). Once you get your Ez Lynk connected to your vehicle, you will have access to all the tunes and can switch around till your heart's content. IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST purchase the "Lifetime Support", "Full Support ", or "Unlimited Support" option to do this because otherwise if you go with "Limited Support" you have 4 weeks to switch around with tunes and then after that, whatever tune you have running is what tune you're stuck with. There's the option of upgrading from "Limited Support" to "Unlimited Support" for a few hundred dollars so it's not the end of the world if you mess up. With the Ez Lynk you can switch between and run a variety combination of ECM and TCM tunes.

TLDR: The Ez Lynk will offer you the ability to do what you are asking for. Think of the Ez Lynk as a new and improved next gen Mini Max. Purchase "Lifetime Support" from a company that offers Emissions On and Off tuning and then mess around with the tunes. The steps and procedures for doing emissions off tuning on a 6.7 is really no different or harder than the 6.4. If you did it on your 6.4, doing it on the 6.7 will be a piece of cake The hardest part is actually buying the parts (i.e. tuning, exhaust, block off plates).

Post more questions if you have them and we'll try and help or PM for privacy.
