Transfer case compatability

Hey guys, I've been searching, but not having much luck. I am selling the wheels that came off of my truck, and the buyer has a couple transfer cases available for trade. I'm trying to find out if they will work for my truck or not. He has a Dana 20, and a Chevy NP-205. Is there any difference between the Chevy and Ford NP-205's?
I rear that the 205 will bolt in place of my Dana 24, but I don't know if a Chevy one will. I know nothing about Dana 20's.
Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if the Chevy 205 will bolt up, I think the trans output shaft spline is different between the Ford and Chevy, but it is the better of the two transfer cases and would likely sell for a good price.

Ford is left side, Chevy is right side. Dana 20 is a small case integral mount, most likely from Jeep or Scout right side.

Ok, thanks for the info. We just stuck to cash instead of a trade.
Since we are on the subject, if I'm keeping an eye out for a np205 transfer case, what are the visual differences between a divorced and married case? I didn't have much luck looking that up either.
I may end up just keeping the Dana 24, but it's good info in case I come across something.

The obvious is divorced has a driveshaft between the case and trans. 3 driveshafts total

Of course. But, to me as a new guy to vintage 4x4's, and 4x4's in general, it's not so easily identifiable when they are removed from the vehicle. In my searching, the np205's all seem to look like they have a bolt pattern on one face, whether they are married or divorced. So, I'm not sure if they are easily interchangeable or not, or if there is something specific I should be looking for in a divorced case. I don't want to have to buy an unnecessary conversion if it's easily avoided.

As noted, the Dana 20 is a married case. Why are you trying to replace your Dana 24?

Sorry for the delayed response.
I'm not necessarily looking to replace my case. If an NP 205 was available for a trade, of if I found a good deal on one, I would probably upgrade rather then rebuild the 24. If not, no problem, I'll rebuild the 24

I've read good things about both cases. A few things to consider with either case: If you have older rubber mounts, replace them with a urethane version - something like this: https://www.prothanesuspensionparts.com/61601
I've read that adding a strut support to the bottom of the case to the frame is a good idea. These were on later trucks with the NP205. The Dana 24 does not have a specific part for this, and people fab their own. On my list for the future. Since you're going to be into it, and have the bed off - might be a good time. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...strut-rod.html
Also, chasing rattles in my truck, the worst one was the connecting rod between the shift lever and the t-case. The clevis joints at each end had plenty of lash. I sandwiched some orings between things as a temporary fix - this really helped quiet up my cab.

I am not familiar with a model 24 T-case.
But
I have played around with mating a NP 205 Ford T-case to the rear of a 2wd NP435 Transmission.
Being a parts scrounger type (I'll do it myself), I already had the NP435 2wd Trans. So, I dug through the transmission Core-pile at the recycler, and picked out a NP435 with bad gears, but good correct output shaft (mainshaft) to mate to the Ford NP205, which i plucked from somewhere. I think the core trans came with the correct adapter to marry to the Ford NP205 T-case. Presto, a low buck build.

My opinion is a NP435 is one of the easiest transmissions to work on of the pickup trans for us home jobber's.
A good transmission shop can set you straight with good pointer's and option's.
