I too. went to 15" Ford mustang alloys, 1994/1995 I think. and yes they are 7" wide vs 6" for the stock 14" wheels. A nice, good looking, easy to find wheel without clearance issues. Plus much stronger than the 14" factory alloys in 1996 and 1997. I had replaced 3 of them due to cracks.
I run 215/75/15 Michelins on my 1996 AWD, which raises it about .5", no clearance problems, excellent handling with the Hellwig rear sway bar and KYB shocks all around. Funny thing is now my speedometer is more accurate than when I ran 14" 215/75/14's.
