For a 2020 F250. Looking for a set of dedicated winter tires to mount on 17" wheels as close to my 34ish" tires I have on now. I'm curious if you know of companies making large snow tires. So far it seems the Cooper ATW is the biggest I can find so I may go that route.
They don't need to be huge, but my truck is leveled and factory 31ish tires just look silly on it. 33-35 would be great. Ideas?
+1.. a wide snow tire defeats the advantage they offer over regular tires by decreasing the pressure on the tread. There's nothing wrong with using a larger diameter tire but keep the tread width as narrow as practical, in a 33" or 35" opt for a 10.5" section width over a 12" or 14" for example
Our SUV gets dedicated winters; Nokians, Blizzaks or Michelin X-Ice have been the last few. On my F350 dually, I can't be bothered swapping six tires and/or rims every 6 months so I just use a "Winter Snowflake M&S" like the Goodyear Duratrac's I've been using for the past 10 years. I know that real winters would be better yet but I've never been stuck in 10 years and have pulled dozens of vehicles out of the ditch on the way to the ski hill with them. I carry chains just in case but haven't had to use them....yet.
285/75/17 is going to be the best bet for a winter traction tire that is relatively large. I just put Cooper AT3 xlt on my 2019 in this size and fits great. Larger than stock but nothing crazy. This size offers plenty of 3peak rated snow worthy tires, you should look into it.
