96 Explorer manual / automatic trans GEM module compatibility.
I recently picked up a non running 1996 Explorer. It's a two-door, 4.0 pushrod engine, 4x4 with manual 5-speed transmission. It was not running. The fuel pump took care of that. But then I had no wipers or power windows or dome light. I replaced the gem module was took care of that. Now I have no four-wheel drive. I see 4x4 low activation takes input from the clutch pedal switch. I'm guessing my replacement gem module is probably from a vehicle with an automatic transmission. Could this be my issue? Do vehicles with an automatic transmission and a manual transmission require different gem modules?
