1997 Ford explorer cold start issues.
Hey I have a 1997 Ford explorer v6 4.0 with about 170000 miles on it. Whenever it's below 40 degrees she doesn't want to start and if I can get her to start her rpms will surge to about 1 and a half or 2 drop to one idle roughly until resting at half. Ocassionally she will die out if I don't get her some acceleration. She's had a fuel pump replacement. I asked him to check for vaccum leaks I don't know if he did or did not. I checked the PCV valve it seems to be operating it's not stuck at least. The only other symptom I've noticed is ocassionally when it starts and it's cold or has been sitting it will make a loud clunk then start up with minimal noise. I do hear a slight clicking sound under the hood while she runs.
