Something has to give and if it isn’t a skipping wheel it will be the differential/transfer case/transmission that goes boom. I don’t see the use for a locked axle at speed anyways, except for straight line drag racing which most have welded differentials. Maybe if someone/you want to straight line drag race your super duty?

I have installed Detroit lockers in just about every truck I have owned, my current Ford has a rear Detroit locker with 140k miles on it, so I know it can hold up to highway driving. I will not be commuting in my SD, but will be doing a lot of driving on dirt and gravel roads were I travel faster than 25 mph and want/need a locker for that use. These roads get muddy as heck in the rain and we get a lot of snow in the winter. I want to be able to use the locker in those conditions at 40ish MPH. When the new F350 arrives I also plan on having a Detroit Truetrac installed in the front Dana 60 as soon as possible as well. I always hear people telling horror stories about lockers on the highway, especially on ice, but I haven't had any issues with mine. The only one that is sketchy is my CJ-5, but that is just about exclusively used off-road and obviously a short wheelbase.

Yeah I have had a Detroit locker in the Rear of my truck for a few years and It works great, I have put thousands of miles on it towing. I want a Truetrac for the front but they don't make one for my Dana 50, I may swap a Dana 60 in so I can install a True trac.

I said a limited slip in the front would be better than a locker I should’ve specified for general four wheeling, no way the hard core guys could get away without a locker in front.
