4.9L I6
I had one -- actually 2. I had an E150 with the emissions carb -- not really a good time -- just because of where the carb ended up in the doghouse.
I had another that was an 89 F-150 nearing the end of its days. Just loved that engine. Always seemed like you could pull a house off its foundation if you could get the traction.
White motors supposedly designed the 4.9 (or 300-6 as it was known in the good old days), They were basically bulletproof and used for various industrial applications as well as vehicles.

I had two of them, an '84 and an '86. These engines don't like to rev so Ford put really tall gears in them to keep the revs down and hopefully increase MPG's a bit. What ended up happening was they became reliable gutless turds that still drank gas at around 18 MPG's highway.
I did enjoy being able to work on it and still next to it in the engine bay. It made routine maintenance a breeze,
It would be really cool to see how a modern version of the 300 would act with a 10 speed auto and a 3.55 gear set.
