Daughters 2004 Ranger.
Dead battery.
New battery goes dead overnight. Charge the battery and 12v. 13-14v after I start it.
I pulled the ground off and put a test light from ground cable to ground post. Pulled 1 fuse at a time and the light stays on.
I put a new alt on and no difference Light stays on. Starter?
She is going back to Kansas tomorrow.
I tried a Amp draw and only got .005 MA.
TIA
Are you sure the intierer light is going off ???? Does it have a radio amp that would draw power all the time ??? Only thing I could think of on short notice hope you find the issue .
Checked.
Pulled all the fuses twice to make sure I didn't miss one.
Only two things that I can think of not going though a fuse might be the Alt and starter.
I put a new alt on. Started this AM. I will replace the starter next time she is home.
Hold on dont throw parts at it. Have you scanned for codes ???? I dont think starter would cause dead battery unless you had a no start issue and ran it down trying to start it. A simple volt meter hooked to battery with headlights and heat blower motor running you should see 14 to 14.5 volts
Yes.
I checked with 2 different meters.
13v - 14v. Is she was staying close to home I would keep troubleshooting it. She is stationed at Ft. Riley Ks. 10hrs from home.
Has a 150k miles so I put the Alt on anyway. It's been good after that.
I don't mind putting a starter on it if it acts up again.
When she comes home for Thanksgiving I will check it over. She knows how to disconnect the ground if need be and has a jump pack.
