Help if you can

I have a 73 ford custom. I recently got a battery for it. also changed the soleniod. Now I hooked up my guages to the truck and I am getting a -60 dis-charge on the guage? I thought it was my cb or radio killing the bat. I have them disconnected now and still have a dead battery? could the starter be hung up and be discarging that bad? These are the only mods I have done so far!can anyone help with this one please write me at "lone_white_wolf@webtv.net" I am a newby to the whole ford thing so I dont know where to start on this thing. 302,3-spd custom.I just dont know where it is thanks to all...

That's not much to go on. Just a battery and solenoid shouldn't have anything to do with it. I'd start by disconnecting the amp meter - it may be faulty. Have your starter and alternator checked out to see what the story is there. Most parts houses (even Advance and Autozone) can check them out free of charge. Next thing up if they check out good is to replace your voltage regulator. If you've still got the discharge problem, remove one of your battery cables and put a test light or volt meter between the battery and the cable to see if you're getting current draw. If you are then you need to start pulling fuses until the light goes out. Once the light goes out you should know which circuit has the short and you can start looking at the components and wiring on that particular circuit.

Good Luck
