Hi! New here, but figured this forum would be the best place to find what I need to finish my swap. Swapped the stock 6.8 eng. (325,000 miles) for a 2017 6.8 (25,000 miles) also got a newer 6R140 transmission. Also swapped the dash from the 2000 Exc for a 2010 F250 dash. The problem I have is the dash plug is different from the 2017 F450 dash that I got at same time as engine. The 2010 dash dash plug does not mate with the harness of the F450. Does anyone know where I could find the pin layout for both of those dash to save me from cutting and soldering the wires? Have the right tool to remove the pins so as not damage the plug. Would it be easier to change the plug going to engine ? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Is this dash swap possible? I know the 2010 dash has a computer in it that talks to the other modules and computers on a network in the truck. 2000 may not have had this, but had a GEM module instead for the different functions in the vehicle.
I did a full instrument cluster swap in a 2003 E-250 so I could add the tach, used a late 90's F-Series cluster. I purchased EVTM's for each vehicle and started what became quite a project. I had to manually swap wiring in the connectors so the E-Series wiring would properly connect with the necessary points of the F-Series cluster.
Comparing the pin outs and actual schematic was the only way I knew how to go forward, changing the chassis wiring to fit the F-Series cluster pin ins.
I'm not the least familiar with the F-Series in general and certainly not the years of your parts swap buy maybe my process would work for you?
Yes the swap is possible. Dash frames are same, bolts in perfectly but the wiring different. I have the complete wiring harness from the 2010 F250. The 2010 F250 had gas engine so I don't need to worry about diesel setup. Updated the engine from 2000 6.8 to a 2017 6.8 with 6R140 tranny. The problem I have is the plugs from the 2010 dash does not mate with the plug from the 2017 engine. The harness from the 2017 F450 was salvaged so everything on that end is good but the plugs are different . 2 plugs are the same only a few more pins used on one and less on other. With pin layout diagram I can identify which ones are what. But other one plugs do not match. the plastic guides for proper orientation are different and same with pin numbers ( more on one and less on other.). Have V.I.N. for both vehicles the harnesses came from. Trying to identify the wiring schematic so I can see which wires(and pins) are needed or not.
Thank you for any info.
About the same thing I'm trying to do. Wiring to ECM is good from harness but looking to identify the 2 other plugs from dash. One is similar but has fewer pins on one and more on other. Can find out which is which with pin layout diagram. Other plug is different , the guides inside the plugs are different as to not plug into wrong one.
Trying to sort out wires is what I need. Pin layout will help. I know some of the pins are not needed on both but figuring which is what I have to find out.
Thanks for any info.
