Need some help

This might be stupid but I don't want to break my dash trying to do this. How do you get the cigarette lighter back into the hole? I pulled mine out on accident trying to unplug my phone charger and it pulled the whole thing out instead. Tried putting it back in but scared I'm goin to end up breaking something on my dash. Is there a trick to it or just shove it back in? Thanks

I don't remember how they go in. Is the back side of it threaded or have any grooves that look like they attach to another piece behind the dash?

IIRC, the back side screws off, the wires plug into the insert. You unplug it, screw the back housing off, put the insert in through the front, screw that back on from under the dash, plug it back up. Again, that is if I remember correctly and that is getting more difficult here lately.

the part im having trouble with is getting the black trim back in. not real sure how to get the black piece off because there is a couple tabs that go into the silver part to keep it from coming off and cant unscrew it due those tabs. havent tried unscrewing the back piece yet but thinking im still going to have trouble getting the black part in unless i can take out the silver piece first then slip it back in afterwards

You pulled part of the dash panel out? Again, IIRC, the lighter recepticle itself screws apart. the outside will screw off the inside. Not sure what you have.
