New Alternator

Hey guys quick question. I'm replacing the wiring harness on my 1974 Ford F100 390. The new harness called for a new one wire alternator. Purchased the new "compatible" one wire alternator from LMC Truck. It seems to be slightly larger than the original. It won't fit correctly into the position of the original.
Anyone have this problem updating their alternator?
Do I need to get new alternator brackets and belt?

Thanks again for the help.

One wire alternators are not necessarily the best option for daily driver vehicles. Usually have to be spun up to a certain RPM to "turn on". Also no remote voltage sense. Certainly simpler and fine in race cars, generators, tractors etc.
I know that wasn't your question, just wanted you to be aware.

Is it true one wire or a 3g alternator? Without knowing exactly what alternator you are trying to put in there we can only guess.
