Over the weekend my freakin' Ford Pass app was driving me crazy with alerts and notifications that my DEF was low.
And, then my truck was popping messages all weekend too, even though the gauge was showing over half a tank left.
Has me wondering now if this update was applied to my truck wirelessly as well as the app.
Had like 23 alerts on the app for low DEF, I finally got so tired of it that I logged out of the app.

i have found my app updates actual truck info if i use it to LOCK the doors, even if they are locked. it does an update on all the monitored systems, (tire pressure, fuel, miles, oil etc)
if i use the fob to do the same, it will not update on the ford app
While we are cataloging odd Ford Pass App anomalies, I went to start my truck by the Ford App today and it came up with "Empty Garage, add a vehicle"
About 10 - 15 seconds later my truck reappeared. I wish the app would display a version/date so we would know if it updated or not.

If you go to settings in the app, the app version is at the bottom of the page.

The app will update truck info a couple different ways, one is like you said, by using the app to open/close or start the truck. You can also pull down on the screen anytime with with the app open and it will refresh with the current truck information......As for the DEF level screen, I still don't have it. I read about it a month or two ago but it hasn't shown up in my app.

Never have used the app to operate anything on the truck or remote start it, except for when it was new and the salesman was demonstrating it.
And, even though I have logged out of the app, it still shows as connected to my truck on my phone screen.

imo. The app has no set update days or times. It just does it at random times for me anyways.
sometimes my carsare there. Then times they show up if I reload. It's like the owner website... slow or over worked
Mine shows the DEF option but when I click on it it just says "something went wrong. Please try again later"
thats what mine did for months, then BOOM it must have updated and decided to work. OR...i have a claim in to find my missing points and they decided to give me a new feature in the interim
So, talked to the Ford Pass rep just a few minutes ago.
He agreed that my app posting 43 low DEF messages was an issue, but since I re-filled the DEF tank and the messages stopped, it would be a problem for them to diagnose the issue.
The rep opened a case, gave me the case number and said to call back with it the next time the issue happens and they will look at it live.
As to the DEF level gauge and miles to empty showing up on the app, he said they are probably experimenting with adding that to the app and not everyone is getting it yet.
And, it is not just a SYNC 4 deal, 2020 and 2021 owners have reported it showing up on their Ford Pass app, as well as 2022 owners.
So, will be checking it out the next trip I take, will let the DEF level run low again and see what happens on the app.
