new key fob programing problems

hello!
First.....
im trying to program 2 new fobs i got off Ebay.I did search and tried the turning the ignition 8 times off and on and stopping on the 8th with ignition in acc. The locks are supposed to cycle and then you can program the new fobs . Nothing happened. Then I tried the other option. Of jumping the 2 pin harness going to the lock module.again nothing. Am I missing a step somewhere? Tia

The process for programming remotes for the 1995 sounds similar to the 1999 - 2003, so I will offer some help that may... Help...

Below is an excerpt from an FTE'r named Brian42 in the SD sub-forum.

Luckily the procedure eventually leaked out and we got to save some moolah and time waiting in line at the Service Desk. Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone to credit as there are many posts for this and I made my own laminated version that I keep in my center console.

Here it is:

Program Keyless Entry/Remote:

Notes:
- All locks must be up or down to start.
- You can only program up to 4 units max.
- If you do this procedure it resets the unit so you must program all the remotes every time you do this.

1. Insert your key in the ignition and turn from OFF to ON eight (8) times in rapid succession with the eighth turn ending in the ON position.
2. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the programming mode has been entered.
3. Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any button on the remote transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated)
4. Repeat step to program additional remote transmitters. The doors will lock/unlock for each remote transmitter to confirm that it has been programmed.
5. When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn the ignition to OFF or wait 20 seconds. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the programming has been completed.
I can see some differences between the procedure above and the procedure you listed. Try the one from Brian42 as I know it worked for me and the remotes still work after a few years of using them.

As I understand it, if nothing happens then the vehicle may not be able to have a remote programmed for it.

The quote above was taken from Did You Know? in the 7.3L PSD Tech Folder.

Our trucks aren't that smart. They have a connector to ground out if you have the keyless fobs. Under the dash there should be a grey or maybe black connector that has only two wires/terminals. You ground that out with a screwdriver or key and you'll hear the locks cycle (make sure you have a window down just in case), that activates the learning module and you just then click the lock button on your new remotes and they should work.

This is a 90% solution. I could be missing a detail but this is the just of it.

I successfully used the two-pin jumper method when programming my 97. Just to make sure you’ve got the right connector, there is a good diagram on this post here.
